Street Church

The street fellowship which turned into a church in 2003 is called Shepherd’s Vineyard. It grows from strength to strength. The church operates a policy of non-discrimination. We celebrate church on the street with the disabled and able-bodied members. And also the leadership includes disabled and able-bodied members. We try and encourage an atmosphere where everybody is welcomed, where people get mutual support and understanding for one another.  We say to all; “Come as you are”.

The street church is somehow independent from the NGO Shepherd’s Home though under its same umbrella. The NGO supports people who are members of the church to help them get independent from others. I.e. we have been able to help and encourage about ten of our members from the street to rent single rooms at a suburb of Accra saying good bye to the street. We also helped some children found roaming about on the streets to get back to school and helped in paying their school fees. Some of these have also been put into trade to help them survive the harsh situations on the streets.

The members of the street church meet during the week for bible studies, prayer and leadership.
