“FOR I WAS HUNGRY AND YOU GAVE ME MEAT, I WAS THIRSTY AND YOU GAVE ME TO DRINK AND I WAS A STRANGER AND YOU TOOK ME IN……. “

                            MATT 25:35

 God will provide:

Do not let us only talk about the experience but also the great thought of God behind it. There is always a reason why one is hungry.  It is to fulfil something that one does not have but normally should be given.  When there is a desire or a crave for some things that one should by all means have.  In that case, a need.  Our needs can be very diverse. From anything to anywhere.  I really mean what we must have but not what we just want. These then must by all means be met even if by any kind of a miracle.  This is because God Himself would have wanted it to be granted.

Can you ever imagine some one who is so hungry and has no hope of getting any kind of food during that particular day? Can you imagine a child which has not eaten for days? Someone or animal thirsty to the point of death? Or you your self finding yourself with nothing in a strange land where you know no one and has nothing on you. Just like nomads who walk and find themselves sometimes at your gate.  People had to walk run flee to and from their countries not knowing exactly where they were going during the world war.  They just had to leave everything they had hard earned with their families over many years and suddenly did not have anything on themselves. I will even add people who have never heard of the word of Christ and know nothing about Christ. These have the need of being cared for. We do not throw such people away, or even despise them.  He told them ‘ Come ye blessed of my father inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the earth’.  This was  the reward given to those who cared for the needy.  Why? Because Christ told them, they had done it unto Him.  Because they did that, they got seats in the Kingdom God has prepared.  They never remembered what they had done for the Lord just like we do not see it today but that is the point here.  They asked in vrs 37; when saw we thee hungry and fed thee or thirsty and gave you drink, stranger and took you in or naked and clothed you or when saw we thee sick or in prison and came to you.  Then the Lord said what you did unto my brothers, that you have done unto me. Do not let us only talk about the experience but also the great thought of God behind it.  How are we reaching out to the needy?  Even to those who do not know the Lord and are not serving Him.  Will the Lord tell you the same that you have helped Him or visited Him or what will He tell you? This was written by Kate wanting to thank anyone who has contributed to helping her reach where she is now.  Some one like you.  I see the joy of the Lord in her eyes whenever we talk about this.  She happily wants you to read this. I testify to the gladness that has come into her life compared to some years back the pain and sorrow that could be seen in her face whenever we met. My name is Kate Akorli, 20yrs old and the 5th child of seven children. I live at bubiashie with my mother and my three other brothers. I lost my dad to death when I was 13 yrs of age in the first year of my junior secondary education.  That was when I begun seeing the bitter side of life in my life time.  My mother could no more feed the family alone, least of all paying school fees and buying me books.  I would have dropped out of school if not for the timely intervention of Mrs Christiana Ananga of blessed memories. ‘ may her soul rest in peace’.  She took me through my jss education and died. My results came and I had passed but with no money to continue to the senior secondary school. I therefore stayed at home and helped my mother with her petty trading. I honoured an invitation to go to church at the shepherds Vineyard thrown to me by my sister .  I became a member and even till now.  My sister then told me to ask for assistance for schooling if I seriously wanted to continue my education.  I did and now I am a student of Ashleys Business College where I offer secretary ship. I am left with few months to complete my course. I have also been able to write series of exams and passed, which qualifies me to enter the tertiary institutions.  All exams fees paid over the years by Shepherds Home. I still do face a lot of problems but all can be better told orally.  I look up to God and hope all will be well one day.  He holds my life and I belong to Him. I know He will never let me down. Apart from the help I receive, I used to sell Iced water on my head and move around. I have stopped it and now sell pineapples and water melons by the road side. I would want to become a Bi-lingual secretary or a chattered marketer in the future. May the lord be with us all.

                             Kate Akorli.

Lovely ones,  I think I have told you of the church plot we had by the sea side.  We have been able to begin building it with your help and assistance and also prayer.  We have now put on the roofing sheets.

As I said, there was the need for such a place because any time it rained meant we would have no church service.  The Lord was good to give us a land just right at our target groups again.  We got it in the arts centre by the sea side very close to the street guys and accessible also by them. It is also there that we have our kiosk for our artefact workers where two girls learning hair dressing live.  Also a tourist center. We hope to finish this building very soon.

In the street church, we are now treating the Holy Spirit and a big part of it is being taught by Charles.  I am very glad to see how he gets himself prepared and to see how he forces himself to learn and teach.  In our bible study we are at Acts 20.

Our children in the home are doing very well now in school and I thank God very much for that.  They all got good grades this time.  Pleas pray that our children will grow very well in the Lord and learn hard for their future. Thank you very much for: All your prayers said for us here in Ghana. Giving and any kind of support you give in one way or the other. For helping many in getting to school and learning various vocations. Helping put up the church building. Helping that many will be reached with the gospel especially in Saboba area.

Please pray about these for us :

  • Our annual youth conference is coming off in August.  You are also invited. We hope to do a church plant in the central region of Ghana this summer.  We are in need of some one who will take charge of it.  We will not go if we do not have hope of getting anyone to lead them there.
  • We will also be travelling to Saboba to encourage them in July and may be in August and September.  This is to help strengthen them.  We would also want to start up micro projects in this town.
  • We intend helping build up a library which will help build education amongst a group of about 10 villages.
  • We want to buy bicycles for some of the children in Manchie to help them get to school easily and faster.  They travel everyday about 8 km every day to and from school through the bush path.
  • Our dam which provides electricity has a very low water level so we have lights off for 12 hours after each 24 hours of electricity.  Please pray that more rain will fall this year and very soonly
